Aurora on the other hand was sharpening her knives when Drake stumbled back into the Sneak Attack. 

He looked, in short, dreadful.  He was overall pretty neat still, but he looked like he had run miles. 

“Where have you been?” Aurora asked.

He shucked off his boots and raked a hand through his hair, before coming over to Aurora.  

Aurora squeaked when Drake wrapped his arms around her and dropped facedown on the couch, dragging her with him.  

“What are you doing?”

She poked him.

“Catching my breath.”

“While holding me?”

“Yes.  Did you know the Fleet Admiral has spies here, actively spying?”

Aurora blinked, craning her head to look at him.  But Drake had his eyes closed.

“No?”

“Well he does.”  There was a pause.  “They chased me!  I had to sacrifice something when the Fleet Admiral came running.”

Aurora gasped.  “Not the camera right?”

“No.  Koby.”

“Koby?”

“May he rest in peace.”

Aurora tried sitting up.  But Drake didn’t let her.  “Drake….” she protested.

“I’m exhausted and you’re warm. Stay, please?”

“But…”  He actually felt like a volcano.  Just how much exercise had he been doing?

“I can’t move,” he said, just plain exhausted.

As a white man, there's not a super easy way to review The American Society of Magical Negroes, and also my opinion on it doesn't really matter.

But as a white person, this movie made me feel similar emotions as I did being a man watching Barbie. It takes a certain talent to confront a race or sex with the consequences of their action on other races and sexes, while still telling a fun, funny, and heartwarming story.

Like I mentioned above, I don't really have any say in this, but if Poor Things is Barbie for neurodivergent people, maybe The American Society for Magical Negroes is Barbie for black people.

heres my attempted explanation

"Two Birds On a wire; One tries to fly away" beloved meppo w/ the others going with the plan, ready to kick elijahs ass

"And the other watches him close from that wire. He says he wants to aswell, but he's just a liar." Ryan was in agony solely being there, and he was so horrified and ashamed about his past, so he couldnt tell them about it. Ryan thought of himself as a toy, something that brought pain to those who helped him or showed him love, and couldnt get over the sheer agony, which the wire symbolizes.

"one says cmon; the other says 'im tired'" Helmeppo doesnt understand why Ryan is acting so strange, and Ryan IS tired; he's tired of being hurt. tired of shying towards the light of the sun, only for it to be blotted out by clouds. (this is the point where i nearly cried writing this)

"the sky is overcast, and im sorry. one more or one less, nobodys worried." impending threat of reenslavement looming over the poor boy, apologizing because he thinks the squad will die. And one less slave, one more toy for Elijah; the government lets it be swept under the rug if their wallets heavy.

"Ill believe it all. I wont let go of your hand." meppo realizes what he needs to do to help after ryan tells him his past. his promises he made to rya

"two birds of a feather say their always gonna stay together, but ones never goin to let go of that wire." meppo , trying to prove to Ryan that hes free, that he CAN be free. ryans pain dragging him down

"he says that he is, but he was just a liar." after ryan "died", helmeppo was so angry and hurt because Ryan hadnt been able to be free; hurt he couldnt take him to the symphony, get matching tatoos, argue with him, make fun of his tiny waist again, and tell ryan how he felt.

"Two birds on a wire; One tries to fly away, and the other watches him close from that wire." Luffy, hearing Bryans heart change from being weighed down with chains into a melody of the free, the JOY of his liberation ringing out as he was shot.

"two birds on a wire..one tries to fly away, and the other..." ryan turning out to be alive, elijah & his brother getting captured, winning against the Navy with the files uncovered in the booth. the fate that was seemingly inevitable failure being forcibly changed against all odds. trailing off, it symbolizes that the bird/Ryan is free to choose what he'll do; not letting go of the wire, or taking flight.

anyways this got WAAYYY out of depth and is probably stupid with dumb connections that weren't actually in TSATS, but the idea took form of helmeppo/ryans autistic eyes and looked @ me with them so could not resist.. ty for reading <3

As Bright as the Stars (One Piece Fanfic) Chapter 6

Leading Celesta from the room took effort. “No. No, no, no, no, no…” Because she was stronger than she looked. Koby tried heading towards the cadet quarters. At this time of night, the passageways were silent, only a skeleton crew on the deck working. “What are you doing? I have to get back,” Celesta cried.

“It’ll be alright. The Vice-Admiral…”

"No," her eyes were as wild as her voice now. "You don't understand. I need to get back or…" They hadn't even made it away from the infirmary doorway. Koby turned and saw the soot-covered pieces of her life. She clung to his arms, neither breaking free nor needing aid, standing and staring at the boards. "I… can't leave them…" 

"You're not leaving them," Koby assured her.

“She said… if I didn’t… after I…” 

“Who?” Koby prompted. “Who threatened the children?” 

Fresh tears welled in Celesta’s eyes. “Nova. I didn’t… I wouldn’t listen. She said no one would help me and…” 

Koby snatched at the opportunity; in her daze, Celesta moved easier. He gave her a gentle push, and her feet did the rest. Together, they headed towards the Cadets’ quarters in small shuffling steps. "And the 67th didn’t help.” Bitterness — which tasted a bit like bile — lodged in Koby's throat. "We'll help. Going back now will only get you hurt. The Vice-Admiral has a plan." The Vice-Admiral seemed to be three steps ahead when the game started.

Celesta came up short, turning on Koby in the passageway and taking in his uniform. Her eyes shifted up to his, searching them. Eventually, she nodded. Whatever strength she had before seemingly dissipated, and a heavy daze set in. “Who are you?”

“Koby, miss. I’m a new Cadet… In the 153rd.” 

Those numbers, their unit, held meaning to Celesta, as he thought it might. She softened, and if he didn’t know any better, Koby would have thought Celesta and Garp were related. “I recognize you.”

Imagine koby letting out the girliest, loudest screech of his time waking up half of the base. When he tells them he was hallucinating (aka: I saw mugiwara for a second but there's no one around)

Idk how he does it but they end up giving him an entire week off. Ironically he ends up on the thousand sunny for the rest of his "well earned vacation".
